Crutches no handicap
PA Palmerston North A broken leg and crutches proved no handicap for one of the competitors in the Anthony Eden secondary schools’ public speaking contest in Palmerston North on Wednesday evening. ’ In fact, Shaun Brosnahan, aged 17, from St Patrick’s High School, Timaru, coped so well he was awarded first prize. The judges were impressed with his confidence and delivery although one said he thought he had taken almost unfair advantage of the crutches.
Second place went to Nicholas Donaldson,, of Waitaki Boys’ High School, Oamaru, and third place to Desiree Williamson, pf Christchurch - Girls’ High School, * g
