TV for Coast
PA Wellington Television Two’s transmission coverage will be expanded either late this year or next year to take in several areas not yet able to receive it, said the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Templeton) yesterday. A pilot translator serving Westport and a transmitter and translator serving the Greymouth-Hokitika area would come into service late this year, Mr Templeton said, answering a question by Mr J. J. Terris (Lab.. Western Hutt). The Kapiti coast area would receive TV2 by the end of this year, and the West Egmont area would have a new site for a TV2
translator at Mahoe to replace the existing Dawson Falls translator. A TV2 translator at Opunake would come into use late next year.. Alexandra and Queenstown would be able to receive TV2 early next year, and Wanaka would have it by 1984. The Hikurangi transmitter to service central Northland, including Kaikohe, was due to come into use near the end of next year, Mr Templeton said.
