1080 laid

Sir, — Like Mr Collins I too can quote extracts from official sources to back my argument. The Agricultural Chemicals (vertebrate pest

control) Regulations, 1977, show the following lethal doses for man: cyanide paste 1/93 — 1/56 Oz; arsenic £ oz; strychnine and phos-i phorus, L-J oz; 1080 9/68 oz. In its most. common form, 1080 applied ,to oats or car- ? rots, a man would , have to consume 5710; and 150 pieces of bait respectively for them to kill him. The chances of this happening are extremely remote to say the least. I have used all the commonly known poisons with the exception of strychnine. I have and do continue to'use 1080

poison in most forms. I do so knowing it is the most effective and humane poison available and extremely safe

to use. Mr Collins would do better to quote extracts from more recent publications and not ’those 17 years old. — Yours, etc., ’
