Art collection arrives
PA Auckland The first consignment of a $24 million art exhibition arrived at Auckland yesterday to a welcome of tight security and delicate handling.
it was clear from the moment the containers holding the paintings were inched slowly out of a jumbo jet cargo bold that those responsible for the paintings., were taking no risks. On the tarmac during the
transfer of the paintings to an Air Force Hercules were police, airport security men, Air Force police, and gallery couriers.
The Hercules later left for Wellington where the paintings were to be carefully checked by art experts to see that they had suffered no damage in transit from Sydney. The paintings will be exhibited in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.
