Wildlife reserve
Sir, — I'would like to comment on the Brooklands Lagoon and Spencer Park Wildlife'Reserve,..This reserve is a great asset to the wildlife as a whole arid also to the people who wish to view these wetland areas and its wildlife. But one thing' worries me, that the boundary of this fine wildlife refuge is only one-quarter of the lagoon’s length over all and the rest of the aquatic area is open shooting area. This worries me to think that this reserve could be attract* ing these wildfowl in to b® shot. I think the Internal Affairs, Wildlife Division or the Waimairi County . Council should make the total lagoon a wildlife re; serve, and stop the shooting of the woldlife'. To overlook this lagoon reserve, seeing all these wetland birds feeding in the foreground and then see in the background numerous shooters’ hides upsets . me greatly. — Yours, pfc* G. EMPSON.
