Canty fourth in soccer
Canterbury did better than all the other visiting teams to finish fourth at the junior world cup soccer tournament at Toronto. In its final match, to decide third and fourth places, Canterbury lost, 1-2, to a team named Wexford. The match was played on astro-
turf, a surface the Canterbury players found difficult to adjust to. Dean McCleary scored Canterbury’s goal to take his tally for the tournament to six.
In the final; Vancouver, which had earlier been beaten by Canterbury, beat Cosmos, of Canada, 7-0.
