Frei to speak
Chile’s military Government has authorised the former President, Eduardo Frei, to hold a public meeting to express his opposition to a new constitution that would delay full democracy until the 19905, •to be put to a referendum on September 11. Political activities have been banned in Chile since the military overthrew the late President Salvador Allende in 1973. The Government refused to give Mr Frei a nation-wide television iand radio network to air his views, but said any station which wished to broadcast his speech would be free to do so.—Santiago.
