Big crowd attracted to fair
More than 10,000 people are estimated to have visited the Industries Fair at Canterbury Court on the opening day on Saturday. Final figures were unavailable last evening, but the director of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr I. D. Howell) said Saturday had been one of the best opening days in the fair’s history. Extra staff were employed to cope with the big crowds, particularly between 6.45 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Mr Howell said the export court and the working exhibits were among the most popular attractions. The fair will continue today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
