Notification after interview

Sir, — The seeminglyusual practice of saying, “We will contact you,” and then seldom doing so, by interviewing staff is both discourteous and deihoralising to those seeking employment. Having been disappointed in not receiving promised calls after numerous interviews, I, and I believe many other increasingly cynical and disillusioned people, would appreciate either a direct response or, if honesty and courage cannot be expressed' personally, then surely the logical solution would be that employers agree to notify prospective employees only if they are successful in gaining a position, thereby reducing their own “expressed” workload and promoting greater civility within an already depressed sector of the community. — Yours, etc., (Ms) J. M. MACKAY. August 13, 1980.
