Another series

PA Wellington Another Europa-F.LS. ski series is already being planned for next year, said the New Zealand Ski Association yesterday.

Ten races were held at three venues in the series just ended and the events were won by skiers from six countries — Yugoslavia

(three wins), Japan (2). Canada (2), Britain (1), United States (1) and New Zealand (1).

New Zealand’s first win in an F.LS.-approved race was achieved in the Mount Hutt slalom by the IS-year-old Canterbury skier, Fiona Johnson.

The secretary of the New Zealand Ski Association, Mr Alan Graham, said'that the series had provided valuable “summer” training for the northern hemisphere skiers.

The events at Turoa were finally abandoned yesterday after continuing high winds and poor visibility.
