Penney’s placing pleases
A young Canterbury yachtsman, Philip Penney, exceeded his own expectations by finishing thirteenth out of 385 entries in the world Laser championships in Canada. Penney, a seventh former at Christchurch Boys’ High School, thought that} he would be doing .well to reach the top 50. He was the second best of the New Zealand yachtsmen and had a best placing of sixth in the heats.
