Mementoes for crew
Eleven Mount Cook Airlines air crew who have spent 1000 hours flying Haw- ! ker-Siddeley 748 aircraft were presented with mementes .in Christchurch this week by Mr Peter Walters, a British Aerospace executive responsible for marketing the Hawker-Sidd-eley 146 in Oceania.
Mr Walters is based in Britain but makes several trips to New Zealand each year. He travels nearly 500.000 miles annually.
He said that the HawkerSiddeley 146 was still two j'ears away from completion but already British Aero-; space had received an order for the four-engine .aircraft* It was unusual to get an order so far in advance.
British Aerospace, which made a profit of several hundred million dollars last year, was keen to sell the new aircraft in Oceania. They might replace Mount Cook Airlines’ 7485, which had been in- service for many years.
