New relay record
NZPA-Reuter East Berlin An East German women’s team has set a world record in the 800 m relay at a track meeting in Jena with a time of Imin 28.25.
Marlies Goehr, Romy Mueller, Baerbel Woecel and Marita Koch teamed for the effort.
With Ingrid Auerswald taking Miss Koch’s position, the group set a 41.60 s world record at the Moscow Olympics in the 400 m relay. The old record. for the 800 m relay was set last July in Moscow by a group from the Ukraine with Imin 3Q.085.
