Plastic taxi fares
Christchurch taxi patrons will soon be able to pay their fares with “plastic money” when Blue Star Taxis introduces imprinters to tdke Visa and Bank Card. From September 1, al! cars in the fleet will be able to take credit cards. The company, hopes to generate extra (business, especially in the tourist trade.
“Often patrons have told drivers that ] they would _ have loved a guided tour of the city but were out of travel funds and could not afford it,” said Mr K. J. Murphy, general. manager of Blue Star. “With this new service they will be able to take the trip and pay later. It should also prove a blessing for businessmen who can now use. the cards in- place o! written receipts for their bosses back home)” Blue Star. is the first New Zealand taxi firm to introduce the service. It will be available for all fares of more than $3.
