New air cushion for building rescues
PA Wellington Wellington civil defence authorities will look at a new air rescue cushion to help people trapped in tall buildings. The device consists of one inflated dome inside another. When a person
lands on the exterior dome it gives off air pressure and the interior dome takes the impact. This eliminates the second bounce. Advice from West Germany on the cushion shows people could jump to safety from 00 metres.
