Messenger increases

PA Auckland The Auckand Trotting Club has announced the New Zealand Messenger this year will carry a stake of $40,000. This represents an increase of $15,000 over last year and has come about through the sponsorship by Woolworths (N.Z.), Ltd.

The race will be known as the Woolworths New Zealand Messenger Championship. For four-year-olds, the Messenger is the feature race at the three-night Christmas meeting of the club. It is run over 2700 m from a mobile start.

Messenger Trials, also 2700 m, will again be held on the opening night, December 20, with the big race on the last night, December 30.
