Miss Morris top seed
Jan Morris, of Canterbury; who will attempt to win her second consecutive singles title,. has been named top seed for the national table tennis championships in Hutt ' Valley, later ' ‘this month. .
However, Miss Morris, who represented New ■ Zealand against the touring Chinese' earlier this season, is one of only two Canterbury players to gain a singles seeding. The other is Stuart Annstrong, ■ ranked No. 6 last year, who has been seeded eighth for the men’s event. The top place has gone to the left-handed Aucklander, Richard Lee, while James Morris, the Northland farmer who has. been New Zea-
land’s top player for several seasons,-is at No. 3. Gavin Haberl and Mary Cannon, both of Australia, have , gained seedings in the singles. Armstrong and Michael Hamel, Canterbury’s second-ranked player, . are seeded fifth in the men’s doubles, while Miss Morris and Maurice Burrowes have been seeded first in th’e mixed doubles.
