Snooker draw 40 entrants
The growing popularity of snooker in Canterbury is reflected in the entries for the provincial open billiards and snooker championships in the next fortnight. The snooker, which will be played next week-end, has drawn a field of 40, including seven from Otago and one from Southland. The billiards, a week later, has only 16 starters. However, one top player who remains loyal to bil-
liards is Brian Kirkness. He holds both titles, but will defend only the billiards one.
