Park walkway opened
The Nicholson Park walk tracks should prove a popular addition to the walkways of Christchurch if the 300 people, who watched the official opening of the track yesterday afternoon by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Hamish Hay) are any indication.
Nicholson Park, at the summit of . Scarborough Road, has five new tracks for the public to use. It has been developed by the Citv Council’s walks committee. Most will be able to do the walks in under 90 minutes; in the steep parts steps are provided to help walkers. The committee’s. chairman (Mr W. J. A. Brittenden) paid tribute to the excellent job done by temporary, emplovment scheme workers who helped on the.track. In time, the committee hopes to extend the track through to Taylors Mistake to link with the track to Gcdley Head. Nicholson . Park has two big maps of the area on display, and the walkways are dotted with seats to aid the weary walker.'
