Greyhounds Mynah Bird brilliant
A brilliant late burst gave Mynah Bird a nose victory in the main greyhound race at the Christchurch club’s sweepstake meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Saturday afternoon.
Only four runners were in the classes 3 and 4 event- over 580 m and the talented Diamond Edge, which had led from the jump, looked in control throughout; but she succumbed to Mynah Bird in the last stride.-Signor Caruso was third and Solarcaine which did not run as freely as usual, was in a gap at the rear. Reject’s was back to his best' form to win the class 3 race over 580 m. An Oxciting prospect, Tredeka Lass, confirmed her potential to win the, class-2 event over 580 - From the outside box, the black bitch had enough speed to cut across to the rail and lead'the field into the first bend. She went five lengths clear along the back straight. Devoted Lady challenged strongly as they entered the home straight but she was three lengths behind at the finish. Victory Club made ground for third. ; Grey Wadderln jumped splendidly and had enough pace to down Duelling Gay in the hurdles ■ race, and Pacific at Night and Spanish Stroll were impressive winners of the class 1 races over 580 m.
