$60,000 for P.M.
PA Wellington The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) now receives a salary of $60,091 a year or $1155 a week. The new salary came into force on August 1 as a result of the 4 per cent general wage increase. The increase brings the salary of the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Taiboys) to $46,845 a year, and that of each Minister of the Crown holding a portfolio to $41,546. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Rowling) now receives $41,546 a year, while the deputy leader (Mr Lange) receives $32,273. Ordinary members of Parliament now receive $24,326 annually with the new increase.
