Seven yachtsmen qualify
Seven members of the youthful New Zealand squad have qualified for the finals of the world Laser yachting championship at Kingston, Canada.
Among them were the 18-year-old Christchurch helmsman, Philip Penney, who was the thirteenth qualifier within the last 100 from’ an original entry of ’ more .than 450 competitors.
Penny will be joined by Peter Meo (Wellington, fifth), John Cutler (Auckland, .seventh), Luke Carter (Wellington, thirty-fourth), Russell Coutts (Auckland, forty-second), Richard Bates (Auckland, forty-third), and Allan Ott (Wellington, sixtysecond). Points earned in the heats are to be carried through to the four races in the finals.
