THE UNIVERSITY OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA (PORT MORESBY) LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY APPLICATIONS are invited for the above position. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent plus considerable teaching and research experience, preferably in the humid tropics. The appointee will be required to teach courses in geomorphology and soils and an applied physical geographycourse (Man-Land Relations in the tropics). There is a vacancy in the English section of the Department of Language for a senior lecturer. The section is involved in teaching courses in English language and study skills to students at preliminary year level (pre-Univer sity entry) and also to first year undergraduate students in al) faculties. At first year level, there are separate courses for students in Arts/ Education. Science, and Law and also for students in the Diploma of Commerce and the Diploma of Magisterial Studies All these courses are team-taught, courses designed to prepare the student fo> Un'versitv-level work The successful applicant will provide Intellectual leadership and stimulus for the various teaching teams, and will assist in supervising Papua New Guinean members of staff who are enrolled in postgraduate courses in applied linguistics (TESI.I. Candidates should have at least, a masters degree in applied linguistics and considerable experience in teaching and course design at pqstsecondarv level in Third World countries where English is a second language. Candidates should have’high academic qualifications in medicine and adequate experience of teaching and research.
