Power to President
A “general presidency” would be set up in Afghanistan by merging the Prime Minister’s secretariat and curtailing the powers of the key Interior Ministry, Radio Kabul announced. The presidency would give “guidance” to all Government departments and administrative organs. The presidency would also supervise local government even down to the level of municipality and would also take “greater care” in “religious affairs of the Afghan people.” — New Delhi.
