N.Z. ski team named
For eight New’ Zealand ski-racers there will be little time for contemplation after the three-venue Europa F.I.S. series winds up at Turoa on August 14. They have been selected in the New Zealand ski-ing team which leaves the very next day to contest the F.I.S. series in Australia. The international races in this country last from July 28 to August 14 (at Mount Hutt, Coronet Peak, and Turoa), and the Australian races involve three slaloms and three giant slaloms at Perisher Valley and Thredbo between August 16 and 22.
Scott Callaway (Canterbury) will act as coach and manager of the team which is entirely made up of men. Included in the team are four promising 14-year-olds — Maurice Brown, Simon Wi Rutene, Chris Mosaed, and Richard Harrison — who should all benefit from the further international competition. The full team is:— Dean Stewart, Allan Fraser, Roland Kuhn (all Canterbury), Evan Bloomfield (Ruapehu); Brown (Queenstown), Wi Rutene (Rotorua), Harrison (Canterbury), Mosaed.
