Ideas on buses
Mr D. G. Kelleher, chairman of the Christchurch Transport Board, has returned from a two-month trip overseas with f some “far-reaching ideas” to help the city’s passenger services. Details of Mr Kelleher’s findings will not be released until he has reported to the board.
He said that the trip had been private and had not cost ratepayers a cent. Countries visited included the United States, Canada, Ireland, Britain, France, and Hong KongMr Kelleher said that some of the transport systems he saw overseas could be applied to Christchurch. He was particularly impressed by a bus service he saw at Portland, Oregon, in the United States.
