Sex on television

■ Sir, — Television has a lot to. answer for. Our religious views are mocked, and I would also like to protest strongly about the sexual content of programmes shown before 7.30 p.m. at children’s viewing times. An American comedy shown at 6 p.m. on Mondays, this week showed the antics of two of the staff of a hotel kitchen desperate to go to bed together. They ended up in single beds pushed together in a dirty motel, and at the vital moment, of course, the beds nart; passion unresolved; Great stuff for young imnressionableminds to watch. Surely there must be subjects appealing to children’s sense of humour, without resorting to sex again. — Yours, etc., B. L. BUTTERFIELD. July 17, 1980.
