Child dies
PA Hastings ’ A child was killed when she was run over by a school bus at Te Aute on Monday. She was Natelle Cherie Palmer, aged •• five, of Middle Road, Te Aute. ' ' ' The Hastings police . said the school bus had stepped at an ■ intersection to let children but. The .(relieving bus-driver. Mr J. H. Mason, thought all the children were clear and started to drive off, but Natelle Palmer was standing in front of the bus and was run over.. . The girl’s father was standing near-the bus when the accident' happened and dragged her .clear. Mr Palmer - took, his . daughter to Waipukurau ’ Hospital but she was dead on arrival.
