Spell for Double Days

Double Days, the promising three-year-old Keekerok filly which has had 11 starts for four wins and seven placings, will be given a short let-up by her Invergarcill trainer Michael Skerrett.
Skerrett returned home last week after a successful South Canterbury campaign with Double Days, First Ace, Hejaz, and Tiva. With Double Days spelling and Tiva waiting to be sent to the North Island, Skerrett, will take First Ace and Hejaz back to Canterbury for the Christchurch Hunt Club’s meeting on July 26 and will then campaign, the pair at the Grand National meeting, the following week. First Ace. will probably race in the Brabazon Handicap (1400 m at the Hunt meeting but is ineligible for a start in the Winter Cup

Mrs Skerrett will continue to race the fine filly on lease from Mr Des Gregan, of Christchurch, for the next two years before Mr Gregan reclaims her for stud purposes. “She won’t be out for toe long: I will keep her on the roads and will have hei ready to go again in October,” said Skerrett yesterday. “She has had most of her starts on soft tracks and I think she will be even better on top of the ground, When she struck stickj tracks, like at Dunedin, she
