National parks
Sir, — A. Gilbert thinks it;
would be a good idea'to move 30,000 people from the’ West Coast. Hitler removed about 6,000,000 pepple once, for what he 'called worth-’ while reasons. I wonder if-A; Gilbert could tell us hpw many would need, to remam. to eaten for JiiS‘needs as he/ ■ passes through our 400. miles, ' and whether he will want the Government to keep on spending for the upkeep of the highway. I ask a question of, R. Harrison, Stan Hemsley and G. McSweeney. I am putting together for sociological research a published glossary of “environmental” terms. If in environmental parlance plans are “conspiracies,” land is “exploited,” forest is “despoliated,” national parks can-be “violated,” andrimu “raped,” then perhaps they can tell me, now that Canterbury is in the limelight what the correct phraseology, is for tussock? People and families, by-contrast, are usually reduced to statistics.— Yours, etc., ANNETTE- KERR, Greymouth. July 11, 1980.
