Sir, — Mr Baigent (“The Press,” July 11), mentions American interference in Indian affairs, and we, too, should be awake to “oiling” of political campaigns favourable to Americanbased big business and global so-called defence systems. We owe nothing to the United States in the eighties except our economic miseries. Our future in that sphere is to produce cheaply for the American market and consume expensively, as exemplified by “New Zealand batteries cheaper in U.S.” (“The Press,” July 11). Also.
