Tariff deal ended
PA Wellington Preferential tariff treatment for imports from New Zealand was ended by South Africa in December. The latest volume of external trade figures published by the Statistics Department indicates that New Zealand exports to South Africa between July, 1978, and June, 1979, . were provisionally worth $6.3 million, a slight drop on the figures for the previous year. Imports have also fallen
slightly. For July, 1978, to June 1979, Netv Zealand imported $10.15 million of South African goods, compared with $12.5 million for the previous 12-month period. The main New Zealand exports were meat, dairy produce, fish, oil seeds, furniture, car parts and telecommunications equipment. South African exports to New Zealand' were mainly refined petroleum products, fruit and wines..
