Extra hours ‘support’
PA Wellington The Employers’ Federation would “almost certainly” support the concept of extended shopping hours, said its executive director (Mr J. W. Rowe), yesterday. He said the federation had discussed the Shop Trading Hours Bill with the Shop Assistants’ Union, the Drivers’ Federation, the Public Service Association, and other related trade-un-
ion groups but would adopt no official policy before next month’s national executive meeting. The federation would work closely with the Retailers’ Federation and pay close attention to possible industrial relations consequences from extended shopping hours. The federation had also offered to meet unions again when the hours issue became clearer, Mr Rowe said.
