The main function of such a person will be to assist in operating the University’s Burroughs 6700 computer. As well, tne Computer Centre - also has some other equipIment and the successful iapplicant will also be j requred to operate these and to perform other tasks within the Centre. It is envisaged the Burroughs 6700 will be replaced by another large frame computer within the next one to two years. It is likely that the position would be of interest to anyone intending to take up a 'career in the operations area of data processing. As well, operating staff are encouraged, if they are interested, to acquire programming skills so that the position can also be used by someone with the appopriate abilities as the first step in a data processing career. While experience in operating computers may be an advantage, no previous experience is necessary, as full on the job training will be given to the successful applicant.
