This position involves overall responsibility to the General Manager for the production, maintenance, (excludes engineering development) and production services, (supply, storage, technical control, warehousing and despatch) functions of the Company’s operations at Kawerau, in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. These specific functions are the responsibility of superintendents and departmental managers who report to the operations manager. The company employs in excess of 450 people at Kawerau and operates three tissue machines and a refiner pulp mill on a continuous basis, producing diverse products for domestic and export markets. A paper cutting and finishing operation prepares sheets and other products for merchant and snecialitv wraooina uses in what is substantially a week day operation. Paper qualities include dry crepe from .16 - 60 G.S.M. for a wide range of disposable products, M.G. Tissues for wrapping, patterns, waxing, gluefilm, fruitwraps and M.G./M.F. specialty tissue for one-time carbon, laminating, imitation greaseproof etc. Salary will be commensurate with responsibility and experience. A company car will be - provided and superannuation is available within the scheme operated by the company. The operations manager will necessarily live in Kawerau and company housing will be available at a reasonable rental. Located centrally in the Bay of Plenty (38 degrees south) Kawerau has a warm and temperate climate and is close to Lakes, Beaches and numerous recreational opportunities. Good educational and shopping facilities are established at Kawerau which has a population of about 8500 and easy road access to the nearby centres of Whakatane, Rotorua and Tauranga.
