Power to the North
Parliamentary reporter The South Island transmitted 4.479 million kilowatt hours of electricity to the North Island during 1979-80, according to the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch). I This compared with 3465 million kWh in 76, 1622 mil-| lion kWh in 1976-77, 1349 million in 1977-78. and 39481 million in 1978-79, he said. ! The amount of power lost in transmission after leaving power stations was 9.1 per cent (costing $3312 million) in 1977-78. 6.9 per cent (-3217 million) in 1978-79, and 7.1 per cent ($4390 million) in 1979-80.
