Kokiri drilling delay
PA Wellington The Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand (Exploration), Ltd, announced on Friday that progress at the Kokiri No. 1 site has been delayed considerably during the last week due to drilling into a highpressure water zone. This necessitated increasing the drilling fluid density to control the water flow.
To prevent damage to the well, arising from this high-pressure zone, casing will now be run which will seal off the troublesome part of the formation. This involves unprogrammed work which will delay the actual drilling work until next week..
Results of production testing at the McKee No. 1 well are being studied.
