Winter campaign in Australia
Sepcial correspondent, Cambridge Winter campaigns in Australia are imminent for the Cambridge-trained gallopers, Sean’s Pride, Bold Front, Megan's Boy and Airmond. R. T. Cleaver, who trains Sean’s Pride and Bold Front, said that they will leave Auckland next Tuesday for engagements in Queensland. They will jbe quartered at Southport. Sean’s. Pride, which was given a week to freshen recently, will probably race over 1600 m at Doomben on June 21, in the Tattersall’s Cup at Eagle Farm a week later and in the Doomben Cup on July 12. Bold Front will contest maiden races. Megan’s Boy and Airmond
are scheduled to leave for Melbourne on June T 6; according to their co-trainer, J. W. Winder. They will be based at Mordiallic. Megan’s Boy is none the worse for his mishap in the Great Northern Steeples when he slipped on landing and lost his rider when prominent on ■ the final circuit. A probable mission for him in Australia is the Grand National Steeples at Flemington on July 12. It is a race Winder has won previously with Loch Linnhe and scored placings with Aircon. At the conclusion of his Melbourne campaign megan’s Boy is likely,to travel on to England where his owner, Mr John Craig, races other jumpers. Airmond, which at his last two starts won over hurdles at Ruakaka and was placed on the flat at Ellerslie, has also weathered recent racing satisfactorily.
