Duchess in hospital The Duchess of Windsor, aged 85, was admitted to the American Hospital in Paris on Thursday for a check-up. The duchess, the American-born widow of Britain’s former King Edward VIII, spent four months at the American Hospital last year after a bacterial infection. She has lived as a virtual recluse i at her home near the Boisi de Boulogne since her husband’s death in 1972. — Paris. Children return Parents and teachers urged thousands of mainly Coloured children to returnto' school on Thursday as protest against South Africa’s racially separated education system appeared to fade. About 10,000 high school pupils joined a coun-try-wide class'boycott which began in Cape Town three weeks ago. But many of the children, aged between 13 and 18, were reported to be going back. The family claimed it from a former bank clerk Dieter Zlof, accused of involvement in the kidnap of Richard Oetker, aged 27. Mr Oetker’s father is one of West Germany’s richest food and drink manufacturers. Mr Oetker still suffers from injuries sustained during his captivity in a wooden box over three years ago. — Munich.Canadian champagne Sparkling wine produced in Canada’s Quebec province can now legally be called champagne. The Canadian Parliament has passed a law formally repealing a 1933 trade agreement with France which stipulated that only such wines from the Champagne region of France could be sold under that name. Using the agreement, French champagne bottlers won a court ruling four years ago in Quebec stopping Canadian wine-growers calling their product champagne. — Ottawa.,:
