Bid to help sister
A Lobum woman, Mrs W. R. Ensor, whose nephew, was killed in Iran on Wednesday as part of the vendetta against leaders of the Protestant Church, is in Britain at the moment trying to help her sister and niece leave Iran. Mrs Ensor’s sister is married to the Anglican Bishop of Iran, Bishop H. B. Deh-qani-Tafti, who left the country after an assassination attempt last October. Mrs Dehqani returned to Iran soon afterwards, to be with her children, who were both lecturers at the university in Teheran. Mr Bahram Dehqani, aged 24, was shot by an unidentified gunman. Seven days ago, Bishop Dehqani’s secretary* Miss Jean Waddell* was seriously wounded by gunmen. Mrs Ensor and her sister were born in Britain but Mrs Dehqani has lived in Iran most of her life.
The Arcbhishop of Canterbury (the Most Rev. Robert Runcie) has joined Mrs Ensor in appealing to get members of the Anglican Church out of Iran.
