Kokiri well ready for spudding-in
PA New Plymouth All equipment to begin drilling the Kokiri I well has arrived at Petrocorp’s new site 15km east of Greymouth, and spudding-in could begin any day now. Spudding-in of the first Kokiri well was expected on Monday, but delays in the arrival of key equipment upset this target. The company’s genera] manager (Mr R. J. Hogg) said from Wellington yesterday that the railway waggon carrying the equipment arrived on Saturday. Although not all equipment and stores had reached the site yet, everything needed for spud-ding-in was on hand. Petrocorp began transporting the drilling rig, stores, and'other equipment from its McKee No. 1 well site at Tikorangi last month. The equipment travelled by road, rail, and Cook Strait ferry to the Kokiri site.
Meanwhile, production testing of the McKee well has begun with small quantities of gas being flared off. Testing to determine the value of the well is expected to take some time.
