St Albans Park
Sir, — Can the Director of Parks and Reserves comment on the St Albans Park completion date, playground and the land near’ Warrington Street. The original plan has not been completed, there being no paddling pool, large slide, pipe pyramid steps, balancing rails and some blockwork and paving. Residents observations’ have revealed that the pool may be delayed because of the misplacing of a water valve or pipe site in the park area. It is creditable after all these years to get progress but it needs that finishing touch. Residents at the Warrington Street end shall be interested too to hear the council’s proposals for their land from the demolished caretaker’s house section in Barbadoes Street to the Bowling Club, since their properties are in front, facing Warrington Street. — Yours, etc., GRAEME STANLEY. April 10, 1980.
[Mr J. H. Gray, General Manager and Town Clerk, replies: “The plan for the play area as- originally submitted to the Residents’ Association has been implemented apart from the
installation of the paddling pool and large slide. The water supply planned to be used for the paddling pool is no longer available and an alternative play item is being considered. Installation of the large slide will be completed in the near future. Regarding the land at the rear of the properties in Warrington Street, efforts are being made to dispose of the former caretaker’s house site. No . final decision has yet. been made on the remaining land referred to.”]
