Accessibility of M.P.s
Sir, — As an American, and thus by nature overtly patriotic to a system whose ideals are crushed by the realities of geographic size and population numbers, I would like to express my delight in finding a country like New Zealand, which can, at the very least, boast of an accessible government. Though some people question the availability of their, representatives in Parliament, I think it must be because they have no comparisons. I have found local M.P.s to be remarkably sensitive to their constituents, offering their prompt assistance as well. Only in New Zealand could a Waikari housewife chat, on a direct line to Wellington, with the Minister of Housing. I would like to thank Mr Quigley for his accessibility. — Yours, etc., CAROLINE PENDERGRAST. Waikari. May 7, 1980.
