Epilepsy appeal

Sir, — May I through your columns, thank the public of Christchurch for their contribution to the work of the New Zealand Epilepsy Association. At the street day appeal held recently $2300 was given, all of which will go to extending the local branch’s programme of family education, guidance and support. Collectors reported an increasing number of persons stopping to mention family members and friends who suffer from seizures of varying frequency and severity. This seems to indicate that efforts made in recent years to have epilepsy understood and not feared are being successful, and must surely make life a little easier for those having to live with this handicap. The branch is a relatively small self-help group composed mainly of sufferers- and their relatives attempting to meet an essential need. All are grateful to those who generously gave money last month and assure them that it will be well spent."— Yours, etc., J. R. L. FRY,

President, Christchurch branch, N.Z. Epileps-y Association May 7, 1980.
