Expressway drawings available
Possible plans for construction and landscaping inside the Avonside expressway corridor will be available to the public before district scheme review hearings this winter. The Christchurch City Council's works and traffic committee yesterday recommended approval of the publication of two plans as examples of possible design options for the expressway. In addition to removing many houses, the cause of a big protest against the corridor designation this year,
■ the plans show a riverside ■ cycleway, footpaths, land- • gcaping, and a four-lane ex- ; pressway from Fitzgerald ; Avenue to Linwood Avenue. ' The Traffic Engineer (Mr M. L. Gadd) said that r acquaintance with the plans would make it easier for • protesters to make informed ■ objections. ; Similar plans for the St Albans arterial route, a State highway, and the Opawa expressway have already been considered by the council.
