Fiji floods leave many ‘at risk’
Flooding in Fiji in April had left more than 5000 mothers and children “at risk” and about 45,000 people living in flood-dam* aged areas, said the New Zealand director of overseas relief for the Save the Children Fund (Colonel H. Mac Kay); Colonel Mac Kay leff New Zealand two weeks ago to assess the needs of the flood victims in Fiji. A maintenance feeding programme for those at risk in the damaged areas would be started, distributing food through the Government’s rural health clinics. Colonel Mac Kay said the Save the Children Fund should support the, project at a total cost of about $11,500 on quantities of dried skim milk, milk biscuits, milk vitamins, and 200 kg of soup.,
