Tito was ‘a man of strength’
PA Wellington The Leader of the Oppoa sition (Mr Rowling) has expressed the sympathy of the New Zealand Labour movement to the people of Yugoslavia on - the death of President Tito. He described President Tito as a man of great personal strength, who had done a magnificent job in uniting his people in a common cause. “His leadership was dominated by his absolute determination to preserve the integrity of his country against any intrusion by superpower influence,” Mr Rowling said. “He gave Yugoslavia unity and independence, and carried his commitment through to the world stage, as a cofounder of the non-aligned nations movement. “The world has lost a great leader,” Mi; Rowling said.
