The Hughes way ...
Grenville Hughes, one of New Zealand’s most successful race riders for many years, has matching skills as an instructor in that field. He is in Canterbury this week assisting local apprentices and had them out in strength at Riocar-
ton racecourse yesterday afternoon. Experience in riding from the starting gate was one of the main lessons ih yesterday’s programme. Hughes will also conduct riding schools at Hastings and Matamata before returning to his home in Auckland.
