Imports of pig meat
Sir, —I stated (May 5) that the woollen mills’ difficulties lay in this Government’s flooding the local market with synthetic materials. Now . the Government has made another blunder. The local pig farmers are up in arms because it is not profitable to raise pigs because pig meat is imported from overseas. Apparently the Government believes that if we have plenty of anything, the thing to do is to import the same from overseas thus “strangling.” the local market.
This Government is for private enterprise all right so long as it comes from overseas.—Yours, etc., KEITH BROWN. May 5, 1980.
