Doubt over road work
Doubt still surrounds how far the National Roads Board will go in improvements to the Pusey Gorge, highway, between Geraldine a.id Fairlie, on the tourist route to Mount Cook and the Southern Lakes.
The Mackenzie County's consulting engineer, Mr J. R. Fougere, wants to improve the alignment of the road at the same time it is widened for safety reasons. Mr B. J. Dwyer, the County Clerk, said the N.R.B. had suggested that the present, alignment be retained, and work be restricted to widening the road for isafety. I The chairman (Mr B. J. | O’Neill) said the N-R-B. inj vestigating team had exami ined the road on the spot, land that he hoped for a sati isfactory decision before June.
